The drum brake shoe is divided into leading shoe and slave shoe, and the leading shoe can automatically increase the force. There are two brake shoes on a wheel. It is generally in the form of leading and subordinate hoofs, but there are also double leading hoofs or double subordinate hoofs. Sometimes the brake will make a creaking sound, that is, the sound of leading shoes. Although the braking force is large, it will damage the brake shoes.

The drum brake also has its own advantages. In addition to low cost, the absolute braking force of the drum brake is greater than that of the disc brake under the condition of the same diameter. The drum brake can increase the braking force by rotating the wheel forward. Of course, the drum brake is easier to lock and the heat attenuation is faster. Drum brake is usually applied on electric moped.

The difference between drum brake and disc brake (disc brake) lies in heat dissipation. During high-speed driving, drum brake has poor heat dissipation, which is easy to accumulate heat, resulting in heat failure of the brake part and weakening of braking force. However, disc brake has good ventilation and fast heat dissipation, which is not easy to produce heat failure.
